Every February is Black History Month, a month where we celebrate achievements by black Americans and to recognize the central role of African Americans in U.S history. Yvette and Richard attended the Brooklyn Chambers of Commerce event at Weeksville Center to be a part of this historical celebration.

October is the Architecture and Design month. Throughout the month, there are activities, programs and exhibitions taking place all over the city. The purpose of this annual event is to remind everyone how important architecture and design is in everyday life. It is everywhere. Richard attended the Max Bond Lecture October 27th 2014, which was an annual series of design talks in memory of J. Max Bond Jr. Yvette attended another event October 18th, 2014 called “Building of The Year” that took place at 40 Vanderbilt Navy Green Supportive Housing in Brooklyn.
Northeast Risk & Resiliency Leadership Forum
Natural disasters are some of the things that are we cannot control and has devastating consequences for people and their communities. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent a hurricane from coming, but we can be prepared and precautious in order to minimize the damage as much as possible. This is what our principal Richard Franklin learned about attending the Northeast Risk & Resiliency Leadership Forum in Stamford, CT. Experts from the fields of weather sciences, risk analysis and more were gathered to talk about steps to take and things to do in these situations.

SRW hosts Kenny Gamble
Not only did SRW participate at NOMA`s Annual Conference in 2014 by having Cappy engage in discussions as a panelist, we also sponsored a reception for the NOMA Legacy Community Service project called “Light & Hope”. In addition, we engaged Mr. Kenny Gamble to be the keynote speaker at the conference. Mr. Gamble is a famous songwriter and music producer who has a Grammy Award and nine Grammy nominations as well as a successful developer who has significantly impacted the built environment in Philadelphia.
SRW at National Organization of Minority Architects conference
NOMA’s Annual Conference was held in Philadelphia for 2014. Yvette, Richard, Cappy, Natasha and Erasmus attended this year. In addition, our principal Cappy was a panelist on Faith in Design workshop at the conference. Cappy shared his experience and thoughts concerning the diversity of religious beliefs among our partnership and its influence on architecture and design.

Every year Richard Franklin opens his home to all of SRW`s employees and close associates. On September 27th, Richards home and beautiful deck was filled with great company. It was enjoyable to gather staff from our two offices with great food and conversations.
City of Hudson Police Headquarters and City Court Award
SRW was awarded the project for City of Hudson Police Headquarters and Courthouse May 20, 2014. It is an adaptive-revise project we are very proud to be involved with; providing both architecture and engineering services to renovate and expand an existing city-owned building to become the new home for the City of Hudson Police Headquarters and City Court.
